In the Sonnenrain School Complex New Construction project, an area for children and youth was already defined in the early planning stages, intended to replace the outdated and underutilized skate park at Badiparkfeld. During its realization in 2020, the municipality commissioned the Children and Youth Commission and the school to explore possible uses related to the entire municipal area. Ultimately, the decision was made in favor of Vertical Technik AG’s proposal, featuring a combined climbing cube and a children’s horizontal bar.
The climbing caterpillar consists of 8 elements pointing in different directions. This created a climbing object that combines play and bouldering sports. The double children’s horizontal bar was designed with a high central post at the customer’s request. Both facilities are supplemented by EPDM fall protection. The climbing caterpillar was pre-assembled in Vertical Technik AG’s production halls and delivered in one piece. Installation was carried out by truck crane onto the concrete foundations prepared by the client and was completed within three hours.
