It took 6 years from the idea to its creation, but at the beginning of August 2019 the “Bowl in Davos” project became reality in the form of cement, steel and pool copings.
The skaters from Davos and the surrounding area have the IG Skatepark Färich around Yanosh Simenic to thank for this, who have been working since 2013 to make their dream come true. The design, which is reminiscent of half a peanut, was largely created by Marco Guler. Vertical Technik then adapted and optimized the sketches to the local conditions. The earthworks and drainage were dredged by local excavator contractor and former Swiss ski racer and overall World Cup winner Paul Accola.
At 1588 meters above sea level, this is the highest bowl built by Vertical in Europe! It has a depth of 1.3 to 2 meters with 10 cm vert. In the shallow end, the less deep part, a steel coping has been installed and in the deep end a concrete pool coping. This provides variety and challenges the skills of the riders.
The location in Färich is perfect. The bowl is located next to the bike park, the pump track and the rope park. For refreshments, you can go to the “Chalet Velo”. A playground and lots of chill-out options round off the offer.
We from the Vertical Skatepark Crew would like to thank Yanosh as well as Valérie and Paul Accola for the great cooperation. We wish you many unforgettable sessions at the “Camping Schüssla”!
