World First Mobile Bouldering Wall

On August 17, 2020, the world’s first mobile bouldering wall with integrated EPDM fall protection was officially inaugurated in Allschwil. The ceremony was formally conducted in the presence of Government Councillor Monica Gschwind (Head of the BL Sports Directorate), Thomas Beugger (Head of the BL Sports Office), and Paul Heuberger (CEO of Vertical Technik AG), with local press in attendance.

Christian Saladin from the BL Sports Office is constantly looking for ways to encourage the public to engage in more sports activities. His idea for a mobile bouldering wall had been brewing for a long time, and he was looking for a partner who could implement it. The problem was that no one could offer a mobile and weather-resistant fall protection system that met standards and allowed for public operation without supervision. Paul Heuberger took on this task, and he developed a solution in autumn 2019. Subsequently, the construction of the climbing wall began, and in spring 2020, the mobile climbing wall was manufactured within 3 months at Vertical Technik AG’s production facilities in Frenkendorf. It weighs approximately 3.5 tons and is transported and installed in one piece by crane and truck.

Any municipality from the canton of Baselland can contact the Sports Office and reserve the facility. The fee is only 1,500 CHF.

Special thanks go to Christian Saladin from the BL Sports Office.
