A climbing caterpillar has been located near the Schützenmatt primary school in Aesch BL since the summer of 2020. The object consists of polygonal climbing cubes, which can be connected to each other as required. The combination with add-on elements such as poles or ropes expands the possible uses. Thanks to the different colored climbing holds, the climbing caterpillar has different climbing routes, creating different levels of difficulty.
The municipality of Aesch has opted for a quadruple cube. As the maximum fall height is less than 3 meters and a corresponding EPDM rubber fall protection surface has been installed, no supervision is required for the use of the freely accessible climbing caterpillar.
In 2019, the municipalities of the canton of Baselland were able to apply for a climbing caterpillar as part of a competition organized by the sports department. The municipality of Aesch was drawn as the lucky winner by an officially certified draw.
These boulder objects are built according to the EN 1176 playground standard and meet the safety requirements of the BfU. The special feature of the climbing cube is that it has different levels of difficulty.
