The skatepark project in Riddes, located between Martigny and Sion, was initiated by three friends. Due to a great need for open space in the region, the local youth worker supported their desire for a concrete skatepark with a small bowl and street elements. Through several meetings in workshop mode, the design was developed by the Vertical Design Crew according to the initiators’ ideas, and the execution plans were created.

The building permit was granted after 5 months, and work could begin in August 2020. First, the terrain was prepared by a local contractor who carried out the excavation and the construction of the frost-free layer. After the load-bearing capacity of the compacted gravel layers was checked by the construction management, the work was handed over to the Vertical Concrete Crew. On August 24, the skatepark construction began.

The metal parts were manufactured in advance at Vertical Technik AG’s locksmith shop and delivered galvanized. The fine shaping and formwork were carried out by the Vertical Concrete Crew. Subsequently, the concrete test was performed according to Vertical’s recipe, which was positive. Thus, concrete work could begin on September 9, 2020. We will report again as soon as the skatepark is finished.
