CH Lugano – Beton Street Skatepark Cornaredo

Vertical Technik AG has built a concrete skatepark with concrete elements from SkateStone in Lugano next to the existing Bowl Skatepark. The design was drawn by Yari Kopt from the Warriors www.warriorsskateboards.com. The order was received at the beginning of February 2011 and only 4 months later the skatepark was ready for shredding. A brilliant achievement by the German company Hofmann Betonteile GmbH from Elsenfeld, the manufacturer of the elements. A big compliment also to the production team and the fitters who gave their all. As the architect Armando Dorici confirms, the quality of the elements is of the finest. The concrete quality is C55/67 for all element components. This means that there will be no cracks in the elements and therefore no maintenance costs. The joints between the elements were filled with a special resin to create a homogeneous surface. When skating, there is no noticeable difference between the elements. Instead of leaving tar between the elements, 15 cm thick concrete slabs were poured on site so that no transition plates were necessary. This improved the ride quality and made it equal to the on-site construction method. With this project, Vertical Technik AG is now challenging the market for existing skate parks made of on-site concrete, as the quality of the element construction is significantly higher than that of on-site concrete. The project duration for the construction site is also more reliable than with on-site construction, as the weather plays less of a role in element construction. The installation time is significantly shorter; in Lugano, all the elements were installed in just 8 working days! This makes the entire project easier to calculate and keeps costs under control. There are also no longer any restrictions in terms of design, as all the wishes of designer Yari Kopt could be taken into account.
